IL PRIMAVORI - Stone Sector Lexicon

IL PRIMAVORI - Stone Sector Lexicon - a new and major work in specialist literature.
The Lexicon includes about 2500 terms (words, expressions and synonyms) and is integrated with many figures and tables. The definition of every entry is proceded and identified by a code indicating specific sub-sectors. Twelve such categories are used: from geology to architecture, to trade of stone materials. Yet this work may also be useful for a much broader audience - including, in particular, university professors, students, researchers, technicians, designers and sales personnel.

carta_geologica A geological chart of Italian natural stones

The huge variety of natural stone quarried in Italy includes rocks of very different kinds from various geological formations and tectonic-metamorphic units. The various genetic processes are reflected in the characteristics of these reserves, the qualitative and physical-mechanical properties of the lithotypes and their duraability after installation. The precise geological characterisation of Italian natural stone is not only interesting for operators and users but equally essential knowledge in a significantly competitive international market. Giorgio Zusi Editore in collaboration with VeronaFiere, Pietra Naturale and the Video Stone Library has developed a simplified yet complete geological chart designed to represent the varieties of currently-quarried Italian natural stone. Developed by Laura Fiora, Alessandro Borghi, Luca Alciati and Valeria Zusi, the Geological Chart of Contemporary Italian Natural Stone (colour-coded, scale 1:1,500,000) indicates the different trade varieties of Italian marbles, granites and natural stones.

Pianeta Pietra
Piero Primavori's book "Decorative Stone Materials - Marble, Granite and Natural Stone" was published in 1997. Although the field boasts a great many publications of this kind, his work immediately drew widespread attention for its innovative structure and the range of topics discussed. Encouraged by this success, Primavori undertook to re-design, revise, up-date and expand the book - which now appears in a completely new format. While the first publication only had 125 photographs (half of which in black & white), the new edition has 277 colour illustrations, backed up by tables, drawings and outlines providing an immediate, visual introduction to the complex and fascinating "stone planet" which even the layman can understand and appreciate. To reach a wider international audience, the book is now published in Italian and English. The book is essentially targeted at geologists, engineers, architects and town planners - all of whom are called upon to keep up-to-date with the daily impulses that the quarrying and processing industries provide to every creative sector. Yet, thanks to Primavori's clear and elegant style, the book will also appeal to outsiders drawn by curiosity to the fascinating world of natural stone.
